It has been a busy couple of weeks, I almost didn’t get this summary published again this week. I have done a lot of running, working on job searching trying to figure out a landing page for http://haroldlshaw.com (going to only one blog and this one is it-professional or not this is who I really am and what I want prospective employers to know about me up front.
Yes I am a runnah and yes I am geeky around technology .
The other thing is that I started to up date my wardrobe a little today! I am now a 31/32 waist. I haven’t seen that size in forever!!! It feels GREAT to shop for clothes in that size range, because when I looked at them, I just said “ain’t no way, I am going to fit into those”. The 32′s fit a little loose and 31′s fit a little snug (but they fit), so I went with the 32′s.

Three things Running
- Over 40 Again: It felt good to be over 40 miles for the week again, which included a rest day.
- The Garden Survived: Yes this is part of running and eating and I hope that I don’t ever have to get out a submersible pump to use in the garden – was way too much rain.
- Sub 1:50:00: For the second week in a row my weekly training 13.1 run was under 1:50, which is pretty fantastic.
Usually Sunday is my rest day and after this week and I knew that I needed it, so I went on a short hike down at Bond Brook.

Holding steady between 151 and 155, the lower end continues to keep getting lower!
No real injuries, just a couple of nagging aches and pains that are getting better.
TheWife and I have talked seriously about getting another pair of running shoes to be my alternate pair. Tomorrow I will be going to look at either the Reebok Real Flex or the Nike Free 3.0 w/4MM drop as my alternate shoe to the Newton’s.

I have almost 130 miles on these shoe in 3 weeks and absolutely love them. I am running with less discomfort, aches and pains – I am even running my longer runs a little quicker than usual. Best shoes that I have had in a long time.
New Balance MT110
It seems that lately I haven’t been getting to the trails and that these have turned into a comfortable pair of walking shoes. Memo to me – go run on trails!!!!
Haven’t run in them since I got the Nike Free’s.
I started a Google Calendar - Running In Maine 2012 with a lot of the dates of races in Maine during 2012. Yesterday I worked on updating and adding a lot of races to the calendar, so it is a lot better than it was before

As we go through the season, races will change and I have added the Bond Brook series already and taken out a couple of others .
This at least gives me an idea of what I would like to run. I have also made a widget for the sidebar of this blog that has the calendar in it. If you see any errors or other information that needs to be updated or added please let me know.
This section shouldn’t change too much from week to week, but I want to keep them right in front of me so that I don’t forget what my goals are
A slight change to my goals – is to make sure that I am enjoying running and not letting it become too much like work.
This year my big goals are to run 1,200 miles, run a sub 20:00 5K and get through 2012 without any significant down time or injuries (running related or others). My unadvertised goals from the start of the year are to be able to finish a half-marathon (notice I said finish not race) and run a few trail races when the weather gets better.
My long-term goal will be to run the 2013 Marine Corps Marathon. I finished the 1983 Marathon and to run/finish Marine Corps again 30 years later would be very cool. This is one of the major goals that I have in mind for my running and it would be even more fantastic if I could qualify for Boston that same day. Therefore, I am doing a 2 year work-up to the Marathon distance, just to see if my knee will hold up.

It has been a great couple past few weeks of running and the Nike Free 4.0 have made a difference in my running consistency. Now I just have to find the ‘right ‘ socks to wear with them.
