I had planned for a slower run and focusing on keeping my right leg straight.
I got to thinking, that I have been running mostly in my Newton Gravity’s, which have a unique feel to them, which I have gotten used to.
At the same time, I have run a couple of times in my Altra Instinct’s lately and they have a completely different feel, that I am not used to anymore.
This difference between the different running styles each shoe has, is just enough to slow me down. Since I am not used to them right now (when I was using the Instinct’s daily, I got pretty comfortable and quick in them).
I ran comfortably today and didn’t push, but really focused on how my foot and leg were during the gait cycle.
My splits during this run were slower, but there was NO pain in my hip or right leg during the run:
- Mile 1 – 8:45
- Mile 2 – 17:39 (8:53)
- Notta Road – 21:54 (4:15)
- Mile 3 – 26:05 (4:10)
- Mile 4 – 35:28 (9:22)
- Mile 5 – 45:35 (10:07)
- Mile 6 – 54:27 (8:51)
Could I have gone faster, yes, but I wanted to save myself for tomorrow’s track workout and focus on my form work
.
